Workshop Summary:
This Workshop will provide general information on the hoarding
syndrome as well as specific mental health diagnoses that often
cause hoarding. Most of the class focus will be on treatment and
interventions. The instructor will provide the latest research
information as well as her professional experience with clients
who hoard. There will be handouts as well as videos and
interactive discussions.
Presenter:
Karen Kent, is the Clinical Supervisor of King County's Geriatric
Regional Assessment Team, a behavioral health outreach team that
provides crisis services, caregiver counseling, substance abuse
treatment, and private pay consultation under the umbrella of
Evergreen Healthcare. She has a master's in gerontology, is a
licensed mental health counselor, and has been in the field of
geriatric mental health for 30 years.
CEUs:
This program meets accreditation standards (3 hours for
Professional Guardian Board for “person” credits and other
professional licensing and certification boards including
Activities and Occupational Therapy. This program has been
approved for 3 CEUs by the NASW-Washington State Chapter.
